No Sept 18 Show
It turns out that Mike is on an event planning committee at work, and that the event in question happens to fall on Sept 18. Unfortunately, this means that we'll be unable to play with The Kettle Black. We still recommend you go, though - they'll be playing with O Jeh Lye La and it should be a cool show. Nick from The Kettle Black forwarded me this press page: http://www.thekettleblack.com/press.html
However, we're looking at an Amigos show for FMPhasis, a way of fundraising money for local public radio station 90.5 CFCR - which happens to play a smattering of cool indie stuff. I have Green Eggs & Ham (6AM-10AM) on my alarm clock, which I generally get caught up listening to as I struggle to summon the willpower to throw myself from my warm, hazy slumber. Their key program, though, is the Afternoon Buzz from 2-3 PM. All the latest indie stuff on display. Anyway, if we can support them in some way, then great. We'll post on the main page/gigs if this comes to pass.
What else, what else? Todd is now back, and The Dutch should be back on Wednesday, which means we'll be back to practicing by Sunday. Mike's got a tonne of new material in various stages and I have a few tracks I've been working on as well, hopefully meaning our next show will feature some new stuff for our faithful few followers.
In other musical blabberwocky, I've returned to listening to classical lately... lots of Tchaikovsky, and more John Williams. That man is about the most talented musician alive today. Also bought Clearlake's Cedars, it's just too good to be true, and finally got around to picking up The Dears' No Cities Left. So much new stuff right now, it's almost overload...
