The Dutch Does Seattle

The Dutch leaves today for Seattle, so we spent quite a bit of time making sure everything is tight, since he gets back the day of our show, and finalizing our setlist. The show itself has suffered the loss of a soundman/equipment, but they're trying to find a new one before cancelling.

On the internet front, we have some photos and video from Dan "DC" Clark that should make its way here soon. We're trying to keep up with a new demo every week for the webpage, but it's going to be tight since this week has been so busy. In the meantime, if you haven't checked out the two that are there right now, head over to  the Phono section. Finally, the forum is still under construction.

Sea Ray, Calexico, and a bevy of other excuses

A lot has happened since last time. First of all, I should mention  that we saw both Sea Ray & Calexico live this week and they're both incredible bands not worth missing. So it's been busy. But,  as promised, we did get our A-Line demo done and you can grab it in the usual place. Also, our Wednesday session went pretty well and the new songs are tight enough that we're going to introduce some of the others we were talking about in the last update. Namely Signals, June In Winter, and Ann O. Uni.

New Songs Coming Along

We had another really good session on Sunday. Silver City SurfDeath of the Glorious Future, A Scattershot Genius, and This Is The Way Life Grows will all be ready to go with some practice. Todd absolutely nailed the drums for Scattershot, it sounded so good we extended the choruses. SCS has been Dutch'd and we have a new ending for it.

Our next session's Wednesday and we're probably just going to practice the 11 songs we've got tight up to this point and tighten the screws. In the coming soon pile: Signals, June In Winter, and Ann O. Uni, which we should also have ready by July 6. We might open with The View From Teardrop Mountain or throw an instrumental version of Sparrow in too, we'll see. Oh, and a new demo will be up by Friday - quite probably A-Line.

A Gentle Reminder... Fool!

A few things for those that haven't visited in a while
  1. We have a demo available in the Phono section
  2. We'll have a new demo available every week.
  3. We're booked for a show at the Odeon on July 6. Details will be posted here when we have them

We had a really good session yesterday, we're a lot closer to having Silver City Surf, Death of the Glorious Future, Signals, This is the Way Life Grows, and A Scattershot Genius ready to go. Stargazer, Verona, All the Summer's Patient Wait, and others are around the corner too. What this means is we should be debuting a bunch of material at our July 6 show.

The Phono Section Now Has Phonographic Material

We have our first demo (technically, demos) recorded and available to check out in the Phono section or downlaod  here. The reason I say demos is because there are actually two songs in one MP3. On our album they will be two tracks that flow into each other, but we thought we'd give 'ya two for the price of one (if you're curious, the split is at 3:45). By all means send us an email and tell us what you think. We hope to have a forum/guestbook up soon which will be much more convenient

Every week, we'll be introducing a new demo to the website, so don't forget to come back     again and again. And again and again and again. And then that's it. We have only five others at the moment. We're not some kind of supermen. Well, maybe The Dutch...

Guitar & Vocal Recording

Mike & I got together last night and managed to get  his guitar recorded as well as all the vocals. It took far longer than expected, but aside from the acoustic  guitar for Pinstripe Gin, it's all done. Today I've been working on mastering and mixing Arrows Forward/The Latest Age, and it's sounding pretty good. They are two separate songs, but will probably be kept together as one for the MP3. We should have it posted by tomorrow night, so check back.

Bass & Keyboard Recording

No Todd last night, but it was pretty productive anyway. We got the Dutch and his bass recorded for all the tracks, and I had recorded my keys on Tuesday, so all that's left it guitar and vocals. We're on track to have several demos posted within the next two weeks. We also worked some newer material with the Dutch and I think it went fairly well.

New songs: A Scattershot Genius, Hothouse,  Silver City Surf, Signals, Ann O. Uni, Motion Sickness, June In Winter, and an as-yet untitled track with some heavy organ work.

Recording Drums & Bassless Pizza

Mike, Todd, and I got together yesterday afternoon (2:30) and recorded drum tracks for some demos. Todd left at 5:30 with A-Line, Sincerest Element, Rhythm of Life, Pinstripe Gin, Brigantine, Where Do You Go From, and Everywhere But Here in the can and Mike & I recorded The Bandit and a rough copy of No Maps & Almanacs. We also played with A Scattershot Genius and I think I took the chorus  in a different direction than Mike was going to go with it, but I think we're both happy.

The Dutch showed up with pizza at about nine but forgot his bass, so we just fooled around for an hour or so. Next session is Wednesday, but I think we'll leave the drums mic'd up and work on some new material. It'd be nice to have some demos of newer material too.

June 1 - Lydia's

Well, we had our show last night. That's all I have to say about that. Well, maybe a little more - the sound was really terrible. Horrific even. Couldn't hear ourselves half the time and not only does  that make it difficult to confidentally play, it also makes it very hard to get into it. It's odd, because the sound guy did a great job at our last show.

We recorded this one, too, but it  didn't turn out, so unfortunately, no music to post yet. I'll see if I can do some editing to make at least one song lisetnable. Also, there were lots of friends and family showed up  for this one, which was much appreciated. Thanks, guys! Hopefully we'll have some audio  and pics (and maybe even video) soon.
